A Physicist badge for Girlguiding

NTU collaboration with Institute of Physics and Nottinghamshire Girlguiding to create the 'I am a physicist' badge.

The physics department have recently collaborated with the East Midlands branch of the Institute of Physics and Nottinghamshire Girlguiding to launch the “I Am A Physicist” badge.

West Bridgford Brownies visited the NTU physics labs on March 14 to complete the final two sections of the badge:

  • “Create” where they made musical instruments
  • “Investigate” where they designed an experiment to compare the bubble-ability of skimmed/semi-skimmed/full-fat milk.

Over 20 Brownies and their leaders all earned the badge. The event was supported by the physics technical staff (Dave Parker and Ellen Walker) who showed off their wonderful new pattern-drawing pendulums, and by members of NTU Astronomy and Physics society who helped the Brownies with some of the activities and were inspirational role models for the girls.
