NTU Apprentices win first and second in regional awards
Nottingham Trent University (NTU) are proud to have two apprentices represented at the prestigious National Apprenticeship Awards 2019.

Now in their 16th year, the National Apprenticeship Awards aim to showcase the diverse range of sectors engaged with apprenticeships, and the success stories of those who have embraced apprenticeships with zest.
With the National Apprenticeship Awards 2019 well underway, a number of apprentices from across the country are aiming to take home the top prize of Apprenticeship of the Year within their field.
NTU are proud to have two apprentices running in this years awards, both competing within the Higher or Degree Apprentice of the Year category. Kat Paricos of Unilever, currently studying a Level 6 Food Industry Technical Professional degree apprenticeship, and Matthew Hitchcock of Bowmer and Kirkland, currently studying a Level 6 Chartered Surveyor degree apprenticeship, were selected from over 1,200 applications, making it through the first two rounds of judging and on to the Regional East Midlands ceremony.

Taking place on the 27 September, Kat won the top prize, with Matthew taking second with a commendation for his application and his efforts in promoting apprenticeships in local schools and colleges.
'I'm really excited to be announced as East Midlands Apprentice of the Year, although I couldn't quite believe it!' said Kat after being named winner. 'It is an amazing feeling to be recognised for all my hard work and to be part of an amazing event where I was able to hear so many inspirational stories about other apprentices too.'
Fliss Miller, Head of Apprenticeships at NTU comments 'we are immensely proud of both Kat and Matthew. The National Apprenticeship Awards are highly competitive, to make it through to the regional finals is a great achievement. For Kat to win is something that she can be extremely proud of. We are giving Kat full support as she progresses to the National Finals'.
The National Finals of the awards will take place on 27 November 2019 in London, with 74 nominees competing to win the national awards across nine categories.
