Young Creative Awards Nottingham

Showcase your work, meet industry contacts and expand your creative career through Nottingham’s annual competition

Now in its twelfth year, the Young Creative Awards (YCAs) is open to all 11-24 year olds who live, work or study in the city. The competition is a fantastic chance to boost your creative skills and culminates in a public exhibition and a series of awards evenings held at Nottingham performance venue, Metronome.

The YCAs have a wide variety of creative categories: Digital and Animation, Design and Architecture, Creative Writing, Dance, Drama, Fashion and Textiles, Film, Graphic Design, Music, Photography, Theatre and Visual Arts.

Last year three NTU students picked up prizes, including 22 year-old Chung-Lin Chen who won in the Fashion and Textiles category (19 – 24 age group). As part of her prize, Chung-Lin had the opportunity to spend a week with the design team at Villa Nova, a division of The Romo Group. Chung-Lin said: "I worked on colour boards and trend reports from 2020 Spring/Summer London Fashion Week, which was really good practise for me! Very useful for my second year at university and for future placements."

Previous YCA winners include former NTU Writer in Residence and LeftLion editor Bridie Squires, and NTU MA alumna Liss Cooke who went on to coordinate the embroidery on a Mary Katrantzou outfit worn by Beyoncé!
