My work
I’m fascinated with how seascapes are comprised of two opposite worlds; our immediate world above water reflects colour, whilst underneath its surface, the water’s matter can swallow light leaving mystery. Through my work I aim to interrogate what a landscape is and I intend for the perceiver to spend time questioning our tangible world and how we interject ourselves into spaces which seem far more knowing than ourselves.
My process is reliant on looking and using ink to outline each individual colour and tone of watercolour paint as a way to recover and reflect on my previous intentions. In practice, I combine painting and drawing to experiment with depth and depiction.

My experience at NTU
I’m really proud of what I’ve achieved at NTU. I’ve been able to reflect on myself and my belief constructs, and decide what I want to do in the future. I’ve realised that there are lots of artists that might not necessarily use the same mediums as you, but this different approach, allows you to gather more information, and have a better experience of artworks through their selected medium. Subsequently, it helps understand your own and why you choose that medium over another.
The amount of resources and facilities available at NTU was ultimately what I enjoyed the most in my time here. The moulding casting workshops, the wood workshops, ceramics - anything you’re interested in, you can experiment with. I really used this to my advantage in my first and second year – it took me that time to realise which medium I wanted to work with and which would best represent me in the world.
