Writing and Talking Saturday Club

Writing and Talking Saturday Club is a 10-week programme scheduled for February to May 2021 as a partnership between Nottingham Trent University and the National Saturday Club Trust. Aimed at pupils in Year 9, 10 and 11, our goal is to give young people with an interest in creative writing the opportunity to get involved in a subject they love, free of charge at their local university.

Why should your child join the club?

With no previous experience needed and no exams, Writing and Talking Saturday club is the perfect space for young people to experiment with words, express themselves and discover a vast range of careers such as creative writing, advertising, publishing, film-making, journalism and marketing. They’ll get to develop their creative writing and communication skills, meet like-minded young people and make new friends. As well as having lots of fun, Writing and Talking Saturday Club looks great their CV if they decide to apply to college or university later on. There will also be the opportunity to showcase their work in the summer show, an exhibition hosted by the National Saturday Club Trust!

Dates

The club launches on 27 February and will finish at the end of May. Workshops will be held on Saturdays during term-time, from 10am-1pm. There will be no workshops over the Easter holidays (3, 10 and 17 of April).

Location

The club will be held at NTU city site, subject to Covid-19 guidance and restrictions. If this is not possible, the club will run as live online workshops via MS Teams. Participants do not need an account, and will be emailed a link to connect to the session. We will let club members and parents/carers know nearer the time if we can run in-person workshops at the university, or online sessions.

Cost

The club is completely free!
