Practically overnight, the pandemic changed what it meant to be a good marketer. It presented an unprecedented challenge to many businesses, who had to quickly pivot and adapt to rapidly changing market landscapes, customer behaviours and business challenges!
At NTU we appreciate that owners and employees of smaller businesses are often having to deal with this alongside juggling several different roles and responsibilities at once.
That’s why we’ve created a series of short, practical, and fully funded marketing courses to help small or medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to ensure that you and your workforce have the essential skills needed to market your business successfully in the new business environment.
These courses are perfect for business owners or any members of their team that are responsible for marketing. More than one person per business can attend so that you all have the skills to take your marketing forward together as a team.
Designed to fit easily into the day to day demands of working life, our courses not only provide you with new knowledge and expertise that you can put to immediate use they are also accredited by the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) and can lead to a full Level 3 marketing qualification!
Practical Marketing Skills (Level 3)
Over four half-day sessions, this course will increase your marketing knowledge and skills and ensure that your business has the right skills to attract and engage with your audiences and stand out from the competition!
The course will help you to:
- Gain a better understanding of your marketplace
- Create the most effective marketing mix for your product or service
- Attract more of the right type of customers
- Positively influence customer buying decisions
- Adapt to changes in customer behaviour
In July 2021, this course received a commendation from the CIM for teaching excellence.
Practical Marketing Skills carries 12 Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) credits and is delivered through the Smart and Inclusive Leadership project, which is funded by the European Social Fund. Nottingham Trent University (NTU) is pleased to offer free (fully funded) places on this course to support employees of small and medium businesses that are based in Nottinghamshire or Derbyshire.

Digital Fundamentals (Level 3)
Our Digital Fundamentals course has been created as a follow-on module from the Practical Marketing Skills course and will enable you to build your digital marketing skills and create a digital marketing plan for your business!
The course will help you understand how to:
- Respond to the effects of digital technology on customer behaviour
- Choose and use the right digital marketing tools
- Create great digital marketing content
- Develop effective digital marketing communications campaigns
- Measure the impact of your digital marketing activity
On completing and passing both modules, you’ll achieve the full CIM Level 3 Foundation Certificate in Professional Digital Marketing.

NTU Level 3 marketing courses receive commendation from the CIM
The Awarding Body at The Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) has commended Nottingham Trent University for the excellent standard of results achieved for assessments submitted in recent assessments session for the Marketing Principles module of the Foundation Certificate in Professional Marketing.
By signing up to either of the above courses, you will receive a one-year membership to the CIM providing unlimited access to expert marketing tutorials, resources and networking opportunities. On passing the assessments for both courses, you will gain a full CIM Level 3 Foundation Certificate in Professional Digital Marketing.
