  • Horticulture

    Planting Design for Beginners

    If you’re an amateur gardener with a general interest in garden and planting design, or you’re wanting to improve your basic plant knowledge or garden space while learning some new skills, or simply looking for a career change, then this is the course for you.

    We’ll introduce you to the basic principles and techniques involved in creating successful planting schemes, that can be applied to your own garden space. You’ll also learn how to appraise the growing conditions within your garden space and identify plants that will thrive there, and practice drawing up plans by hand.

    Garden Design for Beginners

    If you’re an amateur gardener with a general interest in garden design, or you’re looking to learn new skills to use in your own garden, or simply a career change, then this is the course for you.

    We’ll introduce you to the principles of garden design which will help you develop a range of technical skills that can be applied to a garden space. We’ll also show you how to draw garden design plans accurately by hand, explore the processes of choosing hard landscaping materials, and briefly cover how to develop a planting scheme.

    Courses are full for 2019 entry, but we will confirm when this course is available to book on for 2020.

    RSPH Level 4 Award in Managing the HACCP System

    Learners will develop an understanding of the management of a HACCP-based food safety management system. Learners will gain a thorough understanding of HACCP in order for them to lead a HACCP team and to manage the implementation of a HACCP-based system in the work environment.

    RSPH Level 3 Award in Food Safety for Food Manufacturing

    The aim of this qualification is to provide the knowledge of food safety and food hygiene. Holders of this qualification will have the appropriate knowledge and understanding to be able to take responsibility for food safety monitoring procedures, to identify hazards to food safety, take appropriate action in the light of these hazards and contribute to improvements in food safety practice. It is an ideal link between the Level 2 Award in Food Safety for Manufacturing qualification and the more advanced RSPH Level 4 Award in Managing Food Safety & Hygiene qualification.

    RSPH Level 4 Award in Managing Food Safety and Hygiene (Manufacturing)

    This qualification covers all of the necessary aspects of food hygiene and safety in depth, providing candidates with thorough knowledge. It concentrates on the need for programmes and procedures to be properly drawn up, introduced and monitored to ensure full compliance with the legislation.

    RSPH Level 2 Award in Food Safety for Food Manufacturing

    This qualification is designed for those who work in all areas of the food and drink manufacturing sectors. Holders of qualifications based on this specification will have a knowledge and understanding of: the importance of food hygiene, associated food hazards, good hygiene practice and controls based upon an awareness of food safety management systems. These topics are regarded by the Food Standards Agency as being important to understanding and maintaining good practice in the handling, processing and preparation of safe food.
