Find your answers to the frequently asked questions about our Brackenhurst short courses.
Who can attend a course?
Anyone can enrol so long as they are aged 18 or over and have read the course description and booking terms and conditions.
When should I book?
Most of our classes are practical, which means we have to limit their size. To avoid disappointment, we suggest you book your place early. We take bookings up until the day the course starts as long as there are places available.
How much do the courses cost?
The price of each course is advertised online. The fee is the same for everyone who attends regardless of age, nationality or employment status. All fees include VAT.
Are there any discounts available?
We don't offer help with fees for our short courses. However, we do offer a 10% discount for returning customers, NTU staff, NTU students, and NTU alumni. If you believe you qualify for the 10% discount, please contact the Brackenhurst Short Course team at firstname.lastname@example.org to receive confirmation that you are eligible before making any payments.
What will I receive at the end of the course?
The tutor will present you with a certificate of attendance if you attend 80% or more of a course, and have completed any projects (if applicable) to a satisfactory level.
How many people are in a class?
It depends on the course, but the class sizes for our practical courses are usually no more than 15 people, and for evening talks we don't tend to have more than 50 people. Maximum numbers will be detailed on our individual online store course page for your reference before booking, so please check the course page for confirmation.
I'm 80. Can I attend?
Absolutely! Our courses are open to adults of all ages and experience.
Where do the courses take place?
The courses take place in the same teaching spaces that our full-time students use at our Brackenhurst campus, near Southwell. This is approximately 14 miles from Nottingham's city centre.
What do I bring with me?
If we need you to bring anything, it will be detailed on the course page in the online store. When you book your place, we'll also send you a confirmation email with details of what you might need to bring with you on your first day, and what you might need as the course progresses.
Is there support for people with a disability?
We are committed to making reasonable adjustments wherever practical to our short courses. If you have any questions or wish to check access or support, please contact us. We will liaise with Student Support Services who are in contact with outside agencies and who might be able to support with any additional requirements.
Can I use NTU's facilities?
You only have access to the teaching spaces during your designated class time.
