Support with researching and applying to university
University is your next big step, where you’ll learn about so more than just your subject.
Our Student Recruitment and Outreach team are here to help you make the right decision for your future. The videos below will cover everything you need to support your journey from where you are now into higher education.
Researching your options
With all the different universities and courses out there, how do you know which ones to choose? We’re here to help – in this video workshop, Kathryn will help you explore your options. There are tasks involved, so make sure you set some time aside or make a note and complete them in your own time.
These are things that have helped Year 12s in the past and completing these tasks will help you to get the most out of your research and ensure that you find the right course and uni for you.
Visit our picking the right course and uni for you page for a list of questions to ask yourself when considering which university and course to apply to.
Order a prospectus
Our 2021 undergraduate prospectus will give you a taste of what student life is like at NTU.
Virtual Open Days
The more universities you visit and the more questions you ask, the better informed your final choice will be. Open days are as much about choosing a new home for yourself as picking the right course – a little research goes a long way.
Of course, nothing beats seeing us in person but, because that may not be possible at this unusual time, we're hosting a series of Virtual Open Days to allow you to explore NTU from the comfort of your own home.
How student finance works
In this video, James will explain the student finance process, covering the main costs of higher education, sources of funding, how to apply and repayments.
Additional finance support
James will talk you through the other forms of financial support available, extra funding and the Disabled Student Allowance (DSA) in the video below.
Our fees and funding pages have more information on tuition fees, living costs and funding your studies.
We’ll be updating this page with more interactive videos covering your UCAS application, writing a personal statement, how to thrive at university and managing stress. Bookmark this page to keep up-to-date and check it regularly for updates.
The UCAS Process
In this video Victoria will explain the UCAS process. She will cover what UCAS is, registration, how to apply, entry requirements and how to understand offers. She will then explain what happens on results day and the Clearing process.

Personal Statement Workshop
In this video workshop Venita offers an overview of what a personal statement is and provides tips on how to make it stand out to a university admissions panel.
There are a few tasks for you to complete so you can either download our toolkit which is below this video or simply use a pen and paper.
Please download our personal statement toolkit.
We are all going through some difficult and unusual times, which may be making us feel stressed. NTU are here to help – in this video workshop, Victoria will help you understand the principles of stress; explore some coping methods and different ways to manage stress. There are tasks involved, so make sure you set some time aside or make a note and complete them in your own time.
