Arrival and ticket desk information

Not sure when to arrive or what to do when you get here? Don't worry, all the information you need is on this page.

Preparing for your day

As you will be aware, the Government has not imposed any legal requirements for social distancing, however the wearing of face coverings is required. Our graduation ceremonies are therefore being conducted on a non-socially distanced basis. Our buildings are well ventilated with a one-way system for alumni and their guests to move around the venue, with access to hand washing and/or hand sanitiser facilities.

Face coverings should be worn by graduands and guests during the ceremony unless you are exempt. Graduands will be able to remove their face covering as they cross the stage.

In line with government guidance, we will need all those in attendance to show their COVID passport or proof of a negative lateral flow test. Information on how to get a COVID passport can be found on the NHS website. If you are unable to present a COVID passport you will need to provide us with proof of a negative lateral flow test.

Please do not attend your graduation if you have any symptoms, have tested positive for Covid-19, have been advised to self-isolate, or are undertaking a mandatory period of quarantine.

When you arrive

Graduands are advised to be on City Campus one and a half hours before the ceremony start time. This will allow sufficient time for you to collect your tickets, gown and for photographs to be taken. Please remember there will be a lot of students doing the same as you, so do not leave it to the last minute so we can avoid queues forming. You will also be able to book photography slots after your ceremony.

Please ensure you are at University Hall before doors close, 15 minutes before the start of your ceremony. Unfortunately, late attendees cannot be admitted. We will try to accommodate you in a later ceremony on the same day where possible, but this is not guaranteed.

Granduand seating

All graduands will be allocated a seat according to their surname and the award they are receiving. You must sit in the seat that has been allocated to you. Graduands are called to the stage in a particular order and the seating plan has been designed around this. Failure to sit in your allocated seat may result in your name not being called out during the ceremony.

Guest seating

Guests should enter Ceremonial Hall where they will be directed to their seats by stewards. Guests are asked to be seated at least 20 minutes before the ceremony starts. Doors close 15 minutes prior to the ceremenoy start time.
