NTU Music Bursaries, offers and discounts for Bursary Holders

Bursaries
The NTU Music team are pleased to offer bursaries that support students' development in music and public speaking. If you're in a receipt of an NTU Bursary and thinking of trying something new during your time at university, take a look below to see what you could get involved in.
Making Music Bursary – learn to sing or play an instrument
This bursary provides you with paid vocal or instrumental tuition from one of our experienced teachers. You don't need to have previous experience – just a passion for making music!
What will I get?
You'll receive 26 lessons of 30 minutes during term time, for the 2022/23 academic year. We'll also provide you with an instrument (where applicable, subject to availability). All lessons are taught at the NTU Music Centre on City Campus.
Choose from the following instruments (subject to availability):
- voice
- piano
- drum kit
- percussion including Mallets (marimba, xylophone, glockenspiel, vibraphone) and timpani
- guitar including acoustic, electric and bass
- brass including cornet, tenor horn, french horn, euphonium, trombone, tuba
- woodwind including flute, piccolo, clarinet, soprano saxophone and tenor saxophone
- strings including violin, cello and double bass

Am I eligible to apply?
You can apply for this bursary if:
- You are currently in receipt of an NTU Bursary
- You are not eligible to apply for our NTU Music Scholarship
- You are not applying for our Public Speaking Bursary

The deadline to apply is 11.59 pm on Sunday 2 October 2022.
All candidates who apply before the deadline will be assessed on the strength of their application, and for the Making Music Bursary on your choice of instrument, experience and statement. Successful students will be contacted as quickly as possible after the deadline.
Public Speaking Bursary – learn to express yourself confidently
This bursary provides you with public speaking lessons from one of our professional coaches. You’ll learn how to express yourself confidently through spoken communication and develop future-proof skills that will benefit you in all areas of life – from social situations to interviews and future employment.
Make sure you apply before the deadline, 11.59 pm on Sunday 2 October 2022.
What will I get?
You'll receive 14 public speaking lessons of 1 hour every other week during term time, for the 2022/23 academic year. The majority of sessions are delivered online, with a small number of in-person sessions at the NTU Music Centre on City Campus.
You’ll also have the opportunity to gain a qualification in public speaking by working towards LAMDA (London Academy of Music & Dramatic Art) graded exams in communication.

- You are not applying for our Making Music Bursary

Free ensemble membership and Music Access Fund
If you're in receipt of an NTU Bursary, did you know you're eligible for free membership to any of the NTU Music ensembles?
Take your pick from:
- Choir (free to join for all students)
- Gospel Choir
- Chamber Choir (auditioned)
- Big Band
- Brass Band
- Concert Band
- Drumline
- String Sinfonia
In addition, our Music Access Fund supports NTU Bursary holders with additional costs including concert uniform, international tours, sheet music, and music accessories like sticks, strings and reeds.
