The Janno Media Award

Thanks to the generosity of Janno Media, the Janno Media Award has been created to support final year students on BA Hons Broadcast Journalism with expanding on their final year project.

The award is intended to help support students creating podcast content. Students must expand on the podcast/radio documentary created as part of their course into an 8-10 part series, which will then be issued weekly for at least two months by Janno Media. We are delighted to offer a bursary worth up to £5,000 alongside a loan of field recording equipment up to the value of £1,500.

This award is extremely competitive, and we will award the bursary to the applicant who most closely meets or exceeds the criteria for the award. The decision is made by an awarding committee and all decisions of that awarding committee are final.

To be eligible to apply applicants must:

  • be a final year student on BA (Hons) Broadcast Journalism - P500 (full-time)
  • taking Documenting News and/or Podcasting modules

There is one award available of up to £5,000, to be paid as a cash bursary. In addition, students can get a loan of field recording equipment up to the value of £1,500 to support their project. The equipment provided is to be used exclusively for the delivery of the project work for which they have received the award. The award must be used to expand on the podcast/radio documentary content created as part of their course into an 8-10 part series.

Applicants will be asked to submit a list of costs and equipment they expect to incur in order to deliver their project successfully – this will be used to determine the amount awarded to the successful applicant.

Applications received after 16:00 GMT (4pm) on the day of the deadline will not be considered.

Timings are in GMT:
