I was very pleased to be asked to attend the NTU Thinkubator Challenge® last Tuesday. It was a really fantastic event and it was great for the City Council to be part of a great innovative challenge that supports both students and businesses. Supporting the local economy is a key priority for the Council and we applaud any activity that supports businesses and encourages young people to be more entrepreneurial during this difficult economic time. Very well done to all those involved.

The Thinkubator Challenge® is a unique and innovative way of championing practice in learning, which everyone can benefit from. Businesses stand to gain from the latest insights while it also gives students the chance to apply their learning to real-world challenges. It was great to see businesses coming together with students and faculty members to exchange ideas and solutions.

Thinkubator was a thoroughly enjoyable day. Everyone I met seemed genuinely impressed with the commitment to connect with local employers and acknowledged NTU as an institution who are working pro-actively and energetically to equip young people with the learning and skills for the dynamic requirements of modern business. The team I presented my challenge to were attentive, professional and keen to get their teeth into a genuine commercial challenge. I have to say their output for two hours work, by far outweighed our expectations.

The Nottingham Business School Thinkubator Challenge® is an incredibly innovative initiative – to match the challenges faced by many SME’s and entrepreneurs with the outstanding calibre of the faculty and students of Nottingham Business School is an incredibly strong statement of support for UK businesses, who are undoubtedly the bedrock of the UK economy.

I was delighted to take part in the Thinkubator Challenge® this year and thought the concept was a great idea to get the students more involved in working with the business community. The findings and suggestions they delivered for our particular project were well received and will be used for our marketing strategy for January 2014 to help us export our services into the state of Texas in the USA. It is always interesting to learn the impact and growing importance of social media and that the younger generation can really see a vision of where this can take a business.

The outcomes of the Thinkubator were really great. They opened our eyes to couple problems that we missed and reinforced problems / issues that we have or are currently addressing.
