Guide to Adjustment

If you have done better than you expected, congratulations!. It might mean that you are eligible for Adjustment.

Adjustment allows you to reconsider where and what you have applied to study without losing your confirmed place, if you have met and exceeded the conditions of your firm choice.

Am I eligible?

  • You are eligible for Adjustment if you've met and exceeded the conditions of your first (firm) choice. For example, if your offer was ‘BBB from three A levels’ and you achieved ABB, then you may be able to find a different place via Adjustment if you wanted to change your mind. If your offer was ‘BBB from three A levels and you achieved ABC, you have not met and exceeded and therefore you would not be able to use Adjustment and would have to consider Clearing if you wanted to change your course.
  • You'll see the option to register for Adjustment in your UCAS Track. It's entirely optional, but it gives you the option to contact other universities, while keeping your unconditional firm (UF) choice safe.

How do I apply for a place through Adjustment?

The Adjustment period is open from A-level results day on Thursday 13 August to Monday 31 August.

Your individual Adjustment period starts when your conditional firm (CF) choice changes to unconditional firm (UF). You have a maximum of five calendar days (five 24-hour periods, including Saturdays and Sundays) to register on UCAS Track and secure an alternative course if this is what you decide you want to do.
