Library access and facilities
Will the Library be open in Term One?
All our libraries will be open, offering access to print and online resources, help and support and study spaces. We will continue to offer access to our extensive online resources via library One Search, which is available on and off campus.
What can I expect when I visit the library?
There will be separate entrance and exit points to each library. When you enter the library, directional signage will help you find your way around the new layout. To ensure your safety, we expect you to adhere to all social distancing instructions in place in the libraries.
The information desks will be open, and following strict social distancing guidelines, library staff will be available to help with queries you may have about accessing library resources.
There will be hand sanitiser stations located around the libraries, and wipes for you to wipe down surfaces after use.
What will the opening hours be?
The libraries will continue to have extensive opening hours, however there will be some changes to ensure the safety of staff and students.
Can I borrow books and access PCs?
Yes. You will be able to borrow library items as usual and access University PCs. Unfortunately, there will be no laptops for loan.
How do I access academic skills support?
Online bookable academic skills support appointments are available using the library booking system. If required, space will be provided within the libraries for you to use for your appointment.
Can we study in a group in the library?
To ensure your safety we have had to close our group study rooms for now, but we will keep this under review and open them as soon as it is safe to do so.
How do I contact the library for help and support?
The library will continue to offer support both on and off campus. This is available through our livechat and library info direct email. Our phone and chat service will be available during library opening hours.
Visit our library website for updates on services and further information.
Travel around Nottingham
We are currently exploring the safest ways of getting our NTU community to, and between, our campuses. We are speaking our local city transport providers on measures they have in place, following Government guidelines, and are looking at active travel, such as increasing the number of bikes for hire, and creating more cycle storage spaces. Please bear with us, and we’ll keep you updated.
We are also increasing the car park capacity at the Clifton Campus for students and ensure that students will continue to be able to park at the Brackenhurst Campus.
If students are unable to attend the University, then they can contact their school to see how they can be supported.
Will there be catering on campus?
We will be opening most of our catering outlets and will be introducing safety measures such as screens and marked spacers on the floor to annotate social distancing. We have limited seating in our outlets in line with Government guidelines to reduce risk of infection.
We have contactless payment methods at all of our outlets and will not be accepting cash payments.
