Introduction:

This course explores technological and philosophical aspects of construction techniques and management processes.

Strongly supported by case studies and live projects, it focuses on the introduction of construction details and management processes from inception to completion, including innovative forms of construction.

By the end of this course, you’ll be able to:

  • analyse and interpret complex information and issues in a systematic, critical and creative manner - and make logical recommendations
  • identify and solve problems, generating new ideas and innovations where appropriate
  • communicate information, ideas and concepts in a clear, articulate fashion
  • demonstrate personal and interpersonal skills, and be able to work constructively in a team
  • apply ethical and professional values.

A CPD certificate will be issued upon successful completion of the course.

Successful completion can also contribute 15 credits towards a postgraduate award.

What you’ll study

This course will include:

  • a broad range of technological, environmental, and engineering processes relating to the management of the construction process for a range of building types
  • ethical issues relating to the management of both the design and construction process; from either the client’s, principal designers or contractor’s perspectives
  • solutions for a range of construction scenarios relating to design, site planning, and maintenance of buildings
  • The production of complex building specifications, using appropriate software and communicating this information in a range of formats, appropriate to the modern construction and surveying industry.
