Introduction:

Please note: This course is delivered through the Enterprising Ashfield project, which is funded by the Government's Towns Fund. Nottingham Trent University (NTU) is pleased to offer free (fully funded) places on this course to support individuals and employees of businesses that are based in the towns of Kirkby-in-Ashfield and Sutton-in-Ashfield.

The standard fee would normally be £395.

On this course you will learn exactly what is required when planning and managing successful events, conferences or product launches.

You’ll explore how to effectively work with clients and understand customer expectations to create professional events.

This course is for anyone curious about events; whether you’re already working in the industry, preparing to enter the workplace, or looking to change careers.

Whether you’re a small business planning a PR opportunity or product launch, or an administrator or marketing team tasked with planning your first event; this course will give you the opportunity to expand your event knowledge and skills.

With a limited number of places on the course, you'll have the one-to-one attention you need to ensure you leave with the skills to continue developing your skills at home or work.

What you’ll study

This course will give you an insight into the world of events and inspire you with the confidence to execute events effectively.

You’ll address all aspects of the event management process, from venue sourcing to critical planning pathways.

You’ll also have the opportunity to share projects and assignments you may already be working on, as well as receive feedback and group critiques.

During this course you will:

  • learn about industry-standard terms and definitions
  • understand and interpret a client brief
  • recognise best practices in the venue sourcing process
  • look at key communication skills for delegates and other stakeholders
  • understand the supply chain process
  • address health and safety measures, risk assessments and safer meetings plans
  • look at creative and innovative ways to keep momentum surrounding your event
  • address different ways you can engage your audiences through event marketing.

What will I gain?

By the end of the course you’ll be confident in the event planning process and have a good understanding of the profession, enabling you to advance in your career.

You will have also developed the skills needed to confidently plan and deliver an event to a professional standard.

You’ll also receive a certificate of attendance when you complete the course, which is a great way to enhance your CV.

Tutor profile: Paula Kelsey

Paula is an experienced event and marketing professional and has run hundreds of corporate events and awards ceremonies over the past thirty years.

Her experience in the sector has covered everything from advertising to aerospace, design to digital marketing, medical conferences to food industry trade shows.

Paula also runs her own business, Cloud 9 Event Management, delivering events for the public and private sector.

Paula also is the chair of the Alliance of Independent Event Agencies and is a Board Member on the UK Awards Standards Council.

An experienced public speaker, Paula often contributes to the trade press and is asked to speak at industry events and trade shows.

Entry requirements

No previous experience is necessary.
