Meet Kamakshi and her father Mr Tarun Marwah
Having studied at Delhi University, Kamakshi started her course MSc Applied Child Psychology at NTU in 2015. The decision to study in the UK involved the whole family. Kamakshi’s father, Mr Tarun Marwah, said he was initially “sceptical” about his daughter studying abroad, but soon changed his mind:
“It was one of the most important decisions we as parents had to take, as we wanted to provide her with the best quality of education. It was Kamakshi’s dream to study outside India and considered UK her first option. I was happy to send my daughter to one of the best countries in the world.”
Kamakshi did a lot of research. When she looked at NTU she found it had a “...prestigious reputation… better facilities and the course offered a proper mix of theories and real world applications.”
Kamakshi has seen real benefits from her studies that will impact her future career:
“Every day has become a new learning chapter. I believe that my learning as a postgraduate student has significantly enhanced my capabilities and skills set which will help me for my future career. Studying in Nottingham has been like living a dream - a once in a life-time opportunity to explore and live independently.”
Kamakshi’s parents have also seen how their daughter has developed during her studies:
“She could enhance her knowledge and I saw her more focused towards her career path. She has also become self-confident to handle any situation independently.
My true advice to all the parents would be that UK is a very safe country to study and there is a sense of security, even in terms of climate, transportation and food - all were easily manageable.
I found all the professors of NTU were willing to work on my child’s strength and weakness areas. I felt that I took a wise decision to send my daughter to study in the UK. I got the full value for money for what she did, in fact I’m willing to send her again if there are any further opportunities for her to study in the UK.”
“It was one of the most important decisions we as parents had to take, as we wanted to provide our daughter with the best quality of education. I saw her more focused towards her career path. She has also become self-confident to handle any situation independently.” Mr Tarun Marwah, Kamakshi's father.
Meet Shraddha Badoni, BSc (Hons) Architectural Technology
After finishing her course in 2014, Shraddha now works as an Architectural Consultant near Nottingham in the UK.
“The course at NTU was very practical – we always had live projects where we worked directly with clients, conducted site visits and did critical presentations.
“My typical day involves me working in collaboration with architects and technologists to help to develop schemes from initial concept through to delivery. I have had the opportunity to work on some great schemes."
