Queens Anniversay Prize Award Logo

Our research has global impact and is changing lives around the world.

In 2015 we were awarded the highest national honour for a UK university – a Queen's Anniversary Prize for Higher and Further Education for our world-class research. The scheme recognises and promotes world-class excellence and achievement in universities and colleges in the UK.

Three of our pioneering projects that earned us this prestigious award were our work to:

  • improve weapons and explosives detection in luggage
  • enable safer production of powdered baby milk
  • fight food fraud.
