On this course you'll explore the different and novel ways of teaching and learning, including learning in nature and education practices in the UK.
Week 1 – Teaching and Learning in the UK
Would you like an insight into teaching and learning practices in the UK? This week will provide you with the opportunity to develop an understanding of effective teaching and learning in the UK. You will develop an understanding of roles, responsibilities and relationships in education. And you'll explore how to plan and deliver inclusive teaching sessions, conduct assessments and offer constructive feedback.
At the end of this first week, you should be able to demonstrate appropriate planning and use of inclusive teaching, learning and assessment strategies and to reflect on how individual learners learn and the success of your own teaching.
Week 2 – Learning in Nature
Have you ever thought about using nature as a classroom? This week will introduce you to the Forest School outdoor approach to learning. You'll learn about the benefits of Forest School and participate in Forest School activities, for example, den building, fire starting, stick whittling, the safe use of tools, woodland art, and flora and fauna identification! You will explore the impact of Forest Schools on the woodland environment and different types of hazards.
At the end of the week you should be able to demonstrate an awareness of the benefits of participation in this approach to learning for adults and young participants and apply your learning to the understanding of real world contexts.
You should have completed at least one year of undergraduate business course and wish to enhance your creativity and design thinking by combining techniques from the design, marketing and business professions. You should also have the required English language skills.
This was a lot more interesting than I would ever have expected and I felt I learnt something that I can take with me after the course. The teachers were fabulous, and I enjoyed the discussions a lot.
