Applying to NTU as an International Student

It’s really important to plan your application carefully and give yourself plenty of time, especially if you need a Student visa to study here.

We try to make our deadlines as flexible as possible for international students. Our advice is to apply as soon as you can after choosing your course.

Applying directly

If you're interested in applying to Nottingham Trent University only, and do not apply to any other UK university in the same year, you can apply through the NTU Applicant Portal.

If you're applying for and Art and Design course you may need to submit a portfolio, there's lots of advice on our website about how to prepare a good portfolio.

Please note if you're waiting for A level results ('pending') at the time you apply you must apply through UCAS.

Uploading documents to support your application

Upload any supporting documents to your application on the NTU applicant portal as soon as you have them, using the 'my documents' screen.

Supporting documents include qualification transcripts and certificates (an IELTS certificate, for example).

You don't have to upload your documents all together - you can upload those that you have already and the others when they are available.

We'll contact you on the email you used in your application if there is more information we need from you in addition to your supporting documents.

What to do after you've applied

If we have emailed you to ask for further information to help us consider your application, please follow the instructions in the email to upload your documents directly onto our system. This will be quicker than emailing the additional information to us.

If your application is successful, we will contact you with a conditional (or unconditional) offer to study at NTU and there is more information on our website for after receiving an offer.

If you would like to apply for a Pre-sessional English (PEAP) course to meet our English requirements, you also need to apply for this through the NTU applicant portal.

Applicants can now register to start an application for 2024 entry but please note that you will not be able to submit a complete application until 5 Sep 2023.

If you need help achieving the entry requirements to do a degree at the University you may like to apply for a Foundation or Pre-Masters course. We offer university preparation courses through our partner Nottingham Trent International College (NTIC), Kaplan International.

You'll progress directly to your undergraduate or postgraduate course after passing the preparation course at the required level, with good attendance. NTIC is ideally located on our City Campus. As an NTIC student, you’ll already be part of the University student community, with access to all facilities.

Please apply through the NTU Applicant Portal.

There are entry requirements for each entry level of the course. The current level of your English language skills will determine how many weeks you will be advised to study PEAP.

If you'd like to apply for a PhD or further research you need to make an application directly to our Doctoral School.

When you complete the application form it is very useful to have details of your qualifications, employment and any research training or experience you have undertaken. You will also need to tell us your source of funding.
