Course Leader, Live and Technical Events at Confetti

Our students get the chance to experience first-hand what it’s like to work in their chosen industry, and they learn from people who know those industries inside and out.

I spend most of my time outside of work experimenting with audio and music, so to do a job where I can use that knowledge and experience in teaching is really appealing! For me, it’s all about finding new, hands-on ways to explain complicated theories - that’s how I like to learn, and it’s what really motivates me.

What makes Confetti different is our ‘do it for real’ ethos - the incredible facilities, and the quality and experience of our teaching staff. Our students get the chance to experience first-hand what it’s like to work in their chosen industry, and they learn from people who know those industries inside and out. That personal experience can be really inspiring; I’ve been lucky enough to work with many of my heroes, some of the biggest artists in the world, and I think that shows the students what’s possible. When we first built this course, our mission was to give people the knowledge and experience they needed, and when I see them doing incredible things out on placement — working as part of the crew that built and operated the brand-new Arcadia stage at Glastonbury, for example — it gives me a lot of pride.

There’s a good atmosphere on campus. The facilities are world-class, and there’s a constant buzz around the place. Everyone is friendly and approachable, and there’s a great attitude throughout the community. If you’re studying here, we want you to carry that attitude forwards; we expect to see hard work and commitment. The live events sector isn’t for everyone, and if you’re not prepared to put the effort in, it’s tough.  It’s an industry that thrives on the energy of the people who work in it; we want you to enjoy every day of your course, and we’ll push you all the way through to learn and embrace new things.
