Join award-winning British gospel artist Freddie Kofi and get to grips with music that goes beyond the notes, in our Gospel Choir. Learn to how to create and capture the emotion and empathy in the story of a song. We welcome singers of all abilities, and there's no need to audition.
What can I expect?
NTU students and staff can experience our friendly and relaxed Gospel Choir, led by the brilliant Freddie Kofi.
From traditional and contemporary gospel to uplifting, emotive and classic songs, we'll introduce you to new approaches and techniques that will challenge you to step out of your comfort zone and bring a song to life.

Our Gospel Choir welcomes NTU students and staff.
Is there an audition?
There is no audition to join the choir.
What experience do I need?
You don't need to have any previous singing experience, and you don't need to be able read music.
Can I try the choir out before joining?
Yes! If you'd like to come along to a rehearsal to see what it's like before joining, email email@example.com to arrange your visit.
I'm ready to join – how do I sign up and how much does it cost?
You can purchase your membership through the NTU Online Store.
Membership for the academic year costs:
- £20 for NTU Students
- £40 for NTU staff and NTU alumni
If you join the choir after Christmas, the cost is discounted by a third.
What's included in my membership?
Your membership includes rehearsals and performances. You will need to supply your own concert uniform, which consists of a smart black shirt and trousers, with black shoes.
Rehearsals take place on Wednesdays (term time only) between 5 pm and 6 pm in University Hall on City Campus, or via Zoom for those needing to join virtually.

Due to COVID-19 we've suspended our concert season, but we hope there will be opportunities to perform in the new year.
The Gospel Choir would usually be on the bill at our Christmas Spectacular and Summer Celebration, and feature in our free lunchtime concert programme.
