Concert Band

Our Concert band plays popular songs including film and musical scores, and performs at least once a term.

Have you ever wanted to try re-creating a classic movie score, or a rousing musical number?

Our Concert Band offers an ideal place to improve your musical abilities, and be part of a welcoming group of new friends.

We perform a wide range of popular music, and don't require an audition if you want to join. You will need to be able to read sheet music at Grade Six level or above, although you won't be required to have taken the exam.

How do I join?

When you're ready to sign up, membership costs just £15 for students, £30 for staff or alumni, or £60 for community members. This includes rehearsals, performances and music. There's also a third off after Christmas if you wish to join in January. Our uniform consists of smart black trousers, shirt and shoes.

We rehearse on Thursday evenings (term time only) between 6 pm and 7.30 pm in the Ensemble Room at the Music Centre on the City Campus.

Where do you play?

We perform at NTU events including the Christmas Spectacular and the Summer Celebration. And every year, we head off on an international tour. In 2018, we visited the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg and Germany. Previous visits have taken us to countries including France and Belgium.

All areas of the Music Centre are accessible for wheelchair users. Accessible toilets are available on the ground floor and there is a lift to the first floor.
