The research conducted by this interdisciplinary group aims to further our understanding of the molecular and cellular basis of health and disease and to develop enabling tools to fulfil this goal.

Staff are drawn from both the Biomedical, Life and Health Sciences Research Centre and the John van Geest Cancer Research Centre, and have diverse academic backgrounds (Biochemistry, Pharmacology, Immunology, Microbiology, Bioinformatics, Biomathematics and Analytical / Synthetic Chemistry), allowing ample opportunity for cross-discipline research. We have strong partnerships with the health service (UK and worldwide) and companies aspiring to offer an improved service for both the public and clinicians. Our world-class research is supported by high-tech facilities, extensive national and international collaborations and a diverse range of funding sources including:

  • SMES and government bodies
  • Research councils
  • EU and global companies.
