Stuart has a degree in zoology with practical qualifications for operating chainsaw, brush cutter, and diggers. His career includes lecturing in Further education animal management, Countryside contractor with a focus on forestry, Landscaping, head zookeeper, Conservation officer for NGO managing nature reserves and working with habitat mitigation projects.
Stuart is also a member of the Leicestershire & Rutland Wildlife Trust wild horizons; this group is for people aged between 16–35 who have an interest in working in conservation. The group runs a range of visits and training both theoretical and practical relating to industry.
Stuart is passionate about all aspects of the natural world but has a keen interest in the weird but wonderful species that sometimes get overlooked when compared to the cute furry animals. He enjoys being outside carrying out habitat management work and exchanging skills with people.
Stuart thinks that Brackenhurst provides a fantastic setting for students to learn the theoretical aspects and combine these with industry relevant practical work around the campus.
