Sheila Spencer is a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in English as a Foreign Language (EFL). She is Course Leader for the Diploma in Language Teaching to Adults (DELTA) and teaches on a number of MA ELT modules:

  • Language in Use
  • Teaching Speaking
  • Listening and Pronunciation
  • Course Design and Assessment.

She also helps to prepare students for the dissertation in research methods.

Sheila has taught in schools, language schools, colleges and universities in Britain, Zambia and western China, and given workshops in Taiwan. She has written distance learning materials on pronunciation teaching for Manchester University. Sheila also examines at several levels for the OCR exam board and marks MA assignments for the Birmingham University MA programme. She is currently writing up her Doctorate in Education on Taiwanese learners. Her current research interests are phonology, pedagogical grammar, methodology, reflective practice, second language writing and academic writing.
