Role

Bernadette is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Human Resource Management Team and a Post-Graduate Academic Mentor

As a Senior Lecturer, Bernadette teaches on a wide-range of both Undergraduate and Post Graduate CIPD accredited Programmes, including the MSc in Human Resource Management. She is a supervisor for final year students undertaking dissertations and Business Research Projects. She has also been a member of the steering group on ‘Success for All’. She is a workplace mentor for students on industrial placements across a wide variety of organisations in the UK.  She has worked on the BA in Business Management workplace-based degree programme for several years, as a lecturer on Human Resource Management/ Organisational Behaviour and as a Personal Development Mentor. She also assists students to gain placements with the provision of practice /development on employer selection techniques such as Psychometric Testing and Mock Assessment Centres. She has taught Post-Graduate programmes overseas in Azerbaijan for employees of the BP organisation.

In her role as Post-Graduate Mentor she works with students, many of whom are international, on a range of Marketing based programmes, and assists with the development of their CVs and guiding students towards a wide variety of CPD activities to develop their employability. She is an Academic Mentor on the Transformational Leadership Module, with a strong emphasis on developing leadership skills within the context of sustainability.

She has undertaken research in Performance Measurement and Management in the NHS and Dysfunctional Leadership as identified in Coaching. She is a qualified workplace Coach and has coached external clients and senior academics.

Prior to Nottingham Trent University, Bernadette worked for several years in a series of Human Resource management roles in the Telecommunications industry including Recruitment and Selection and Management Learning and Development.
