Role

Harkiran has a current role as a senior lecturer in the Accounting and Finance division. She is the module leader of Taxation at level 2 and Taxation 2 at level 3 of the BAAF programme. She also teach most of the students on these modules.

Harkiran is the course leader for the CIPFA professional qualification. Her role involves helping to bring in new clients and students, as well as developing existing relationships and aiding students through the exam process. She has strong relationships with CIPFA, which enables the course to run effectively. I am responsible for the overall running of all modules within the qualification. As part of her role she also teaches the Financial Accounting and Taxation modules.

Career overview

Prior to starting NTU, Harkiran worked as a professional qualifications tutor at BPP Professional Education specialising in Taxation. She taught across all professional qualifications including ICAEW, ICAS, ACCA, CTA, ATT and AAT. As well as her teaching role she was also the course leader for the ICAS programme and the KPMG/ICAEW programme.

Before becoming a professional qualifications tutor she worked as a senior external auditor for two top 10 firms. The experience she gained from being a graduate to a qualified auditor and chartered accountant allowed her to understand accounting concepts, financial reporting, auditing and taxation. Harkiran is now able to use that experience whilst teaching students at NTU by bringing in real life examples and helping them relate technical theory to the real world.
