Dr Xiaozheng Zhang is a Senior Lecturer in Human Resource Management and the Assistant Course Leader of MSc International Business.

Xiaozheng teaches at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels in the subjects of organisational behaviour and international human resource management. She is the module leader for Comparative and International Management (Level 6, UG) and International Human Resource and Information Management (Level 7, PG) in the Business School. She has supervised undergraduate HRM research projects, and a number of PhD and DBA students in areas such as HRM, organisational culture, leadership and international management, training and development, and employee well-being. She welcomes prospective PhD/DBA applications from an organisational behaviour and human resource management background.

As the Assistant Course Leader of MSc International Business, Xiaozheng supports and co-ordinates the activities of recruitment, programme management and consultancy related to the course.

Career overview

Xiaozheng started her career working as an international co-ordinator for the Sports and Culture Exchange Department of Fujian Province, China. She liaised and co-ordinated with sports and culture exchange partners from the USA and Canada.

Xiaozheng has management experience at Nike Sports Co. Ltd, China within the Corporate Department.

She then joined Fuzhou University in China as the academic team leader, responsible for designing and lecturing English and Business Management courses. She progressed to managing internationalisation and partnerships development with universities in the UK, Australia and New Zealand.

Research areas

Xiaozheng’s research focuses on cross-cultural differences and their impact on international management and leadership, with a particular interest in Chinese cultural values.

Xiaozheng’s current projects include Confucianism values’ influence on management, employee well-being, ethical innovation, and the development of CSR and sustainability in China. She is interested in expanding her research in the areas of HRM issues and challenges, corporate social responsibility and sustainability, and Chinese business and management in China and African countries.
