Dr Xiaozheng Zhang is a Lecturer in Human Resource Management and Programme Leader for the MSc Human Resource Management (Moscow). She teaches at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, in the areas of International Human Resource Management, People Resourcing and Talent Management. Xiaozheng is the Module Leader for Comparative and International Management (an undergraduate final year module) and International Human Resource and Information Management (a postgraduate module). She supervises undergraduate research projects, DBA and PhD students.

Xiaozheng is the Department Quality Representative for the Department of Human Resource Management.

Career overview

Xiaozheng started working in the industrial sector for Nike Sports Co. Ltd, China on their management trainee scheme.

She then joined Fuzhou University in China, and worked in both academic and management roles. Apart from teaching at undergraduate level and leading the team to coordinate teaching and delivery of modules, she was closely involved with international partnership course design and delivery in China, working with academics and management from universities in the UK, Australia and New Zealand.

Xiaozheng left China for the UK, where she completed her masters at Warwick University and PhD at Loughborough University. She then started working in Nottingham Trent University as a Lecturer in Human Resource Management. She has a strong interest in international HRM issues and challenges.

Research areas

Xiaozheng’s research focuses on cross-cultural differences and their impact on international management and leadership, with a particular interest in Chinese cultural values.

Xiaozheng’s current projects include Confucianism values’ influence on management, employee well-being, ethical innovation, and the development of CSR and sustainability in China. She is interested in expanding her research in the areas of HRM issues and challenges, corporate social responsibility and sustainability, and Chinese business and management in China and African countries.
