Nichola Gretton

Flexible Learning Manager

Role

Nichola is the Flexible Learning Manager within the Centre for Academic Development & Quality (CADQ). Her role is to accelerate NTU's move to a hyperflexible model of delivery that uses technology to reimagine learning, teaching, assessment, and the student experience by: driving a culture of strategic innovation in flexible learning, teaching, and curriculum design at scale. Nichola leads a growing team of Learning Designers and Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) team to develop and deliver sector-leading online and flexible learning and ensure the VLE supports the growing alternative provision.

Career overview

Nichola has over 28 years’ working in Higher Education at five UK universities and one of the largest for-profit distance learning providers (Laureate Online Education). The Laureate role created a core personal and professional value of everyone having an opportunity to access Higher Education and holding roles that seek to remove barriers to education.

Nichola has over 14 years’ experience in leadership in digitally enhanced learning, curriculum/learning design and digital learning environment development, with 11 years’ being in online, flexible and blended learning design. She has been recognised by: International e-Learning award, University of Leicester Distinguished Teaching Fellowship, Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA) and Fellow of the Centre for Online and Distance Education (CODE), University of London.
