Role
Dr Augustine E Arimoro is a Lecturer in Law at Nottingham Law School, Nottingham Trent University. He contributes to teaching Public Law & Research Skills, Criminal Law with Mooting, and International, European & Comparative Law modules at the undergraduate level. Also, he is a Personal and Academic Tutor (PAAT) to two groups of LLB Year 1 students.
Augustine can be found in Room 5009 of the Chaucer Building. His office drop-in hours are 10.00 - 12.00 on Thursdays. (Other times can be arranged via email).
Career overview
Augustine joined Nottingham Trent University in September 2020. He holds the LLB (Hons), LLM and PhD (Law) degrees from Universities in Nigeria, South Africa and the United Kingdom. Before joining the Nottingham Law School, Augustine was an Associate Lecturer in Law at the St Mary's Law School, St Mary's University Twickenham, London and was previously a Tutor at the Legal Advice Centre, Kingston University London. He is qualified to practice as a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria.
As a Private Wealth Advisor with one of Africa's leading non-banking financial institutions, Asset & Resource Management Holding Co, Augustine managed the firm's relationship with at least 60 high net worth private and institutional clients and also offered advice on diverse classes of investment instruments and financial planning products.
Augustine is a recipient of several awards including the Dean Faculty of Law Award for the Best Graduating Student in the Faculty of Law, the University of Maiduguri in 2004.
Research areas
Augustine's PhD thesis examined the legal frameworks for private sector participation in the provision of public infrastructure facilities in developing and emerging economies. His other areas of research interests include:
- Discrimination and equality rights (including LGBT issues)
- Law for the built environment
- The Nigerian legal system
- African customary law
- Wealth management law
- Law and development
Augustine welcomes students' interests and collaborations in the above areas of his research interests.
