Career overview

Dr Eugene Lai obtained a BSc in Mechanical Engineering, First Class Honours from Queen Mary College, University of London in 1979. He then gained a PhD in Fluid Mechanics from Queens College, University of Cambridge in 1983.

Upon graduation, he worked as an Installation Design Engineer at Rolls Royce Limited until 1986, when he joined Trent Polytechnic, Nottingham (now Nottingham Trent University) as a faculty member.
He is a Chartered Engineer and a Corporate Member of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers. His teaching expertise is in the fields of entrepreneurial leadership, project management and research methods.
