Role

Katrina Woodward is Strategic Partnership Manager for Construction and Sustainability in the Partnerships Local Engagement and Commercial Services department at Nottingham Trent University. Her role focusses on the following responsibilities:

  • Supporting local economic engagement and partnerships with key stakeholders in Nottingham, D2N2 and the wider Midlands in line with the University’s Employer Engagement Action Plan.
  • Developing the University Sector Plan and ‘White Paper’ for Construction and Sustainability, clearly setting the strategic approach towards a focused agenda that is specific to sectoral challenges, opportunities and threats; and sets out the capabililities and capacity of the university to meet the needs of the sector now and in the future.
  • Supporting leading businesses in the sector to co-create and co-invest in collaborative projects that lead to mutually beneficial organisational outcomes and wider benefits to the sector.
  • Supporting commercial services for external organisations, building on the University’s academic expertise and facilities.

Career overview

Prior to joining the PLECS Team, Katrina was the skills and employability lead for the Local Enterprise Partnership working across Derby, Derbyshire, Nottingham and Nottinghamshire. Katrina commissioned and contributed to the development of the employer-led Construction and Low Carbon skills action plans for the LEP which were used to define the strategic content of ESF programmes to raise the skills and employment levels to benefit the local economy.

Prior to this Katrina worked for a local Further Education College managing the employer engagement team, and overseeing the delivery of vocational and apprenticeship programmes.

External activity

Support local and regional communities that inform business thinking and planning through employer groups, including East Midlands Chamber of Commerce. Katrina is on the board of Constructing Excellence Midlands East Midlands Club and supports the University as Patron to ProCon Nottinghamshire.
