Alex studied at the University of Derby graduating in 2010 with a degree in BSc Psychology. He then secured himself a studentship to study at Nottingham Trent University, where he graduated in 2011 with an MSc in Psychological Well-being and Mental Health. In 2012, he was awarded a full time fully funded scholarship by the MS Society to undertake a PhD investigating changes to social identity in people with multiple sclerosis and how this may affect their mood. Specifically, this research focused on how the family can help a person adjust to their identity change and reduce the negative effects of identity change.

Alex's current work involves quantifying alcohol and tobacco content in contemporary media and estimating population exposure to this content.

Alex has expertise in quantifying audio visual alcohol and tobacco content in media and estimating exposure to this content. Alex has considerable knowledge in Social Psychology and Psychological Well-being. Alex's research experience has involved both qualitative and quantitative methods.
