Applications are now open for NTU Music’s annual vocal and instrumental competitions, the finals of which will take place live at University Hall this March. Bag yourself a cash prize of up to £100 for first place!

The competitions are open to all NTU and Confetti HE students, and you don’t need to be involved with NTU Music to take part.

How do I apply?

Simply apply via our online form.

When is the deadline to apply?

  • Vocal competition – apply by 5 pm on Friday 10 February
  • Instrumental competition – apply by 5 pm on Friday 10 March

You can apply for both competitions but separate applications must be submitted.

What happens next?

We’ll invite you to take part in a preliminary round where you’ll perform one piece of music for the director of music in the NTU Music Centre, City Campus. The director will then contact the students chosen to take part in the finals.

If you’re selected to take part in the finals, you’ll then perform in front of our professional adjudicator and a public audience in University Hall on City Campus:

  • Vocal Competition final – Wednesday 1 March, 1 pm
  • Instrumental Competition final – Wednesday 29 March, 1 pm

An accompanist will be available for the finals and should be used instead of a backing track, wherever possible.
