Give back. Get paid. Boost your life skills. Become a Student Mentor.
Published: 30/03/2023
Do you want to give back to your NTU community and get paid for doing so, while developing your own skills?
You can make a real difference to first year students by applying to become a Student Mentor.
All of our future students will arrive at NTU on a different journey. They may have studied A-Levels, BTECs, or a foundation course, and could be UK-based or attending as an international student. They might be the first, second or third in their family to attend university. They could be coming to NTU straight from school or college, or returning to education as a mature student.
No matter what your own first-year experience looked like, you’ll have picked up valuable knowledge that you can share to help our new students adjust to university life.

You will work as part of a team to support students from your own course and school by helping them to feel a sense of course community, identity, and belonging.
Student Mentoring is completely flexible around your studies and other commitments. It is a paid role and develops your own life skills by giving you the opportunity to improve your confidence, communication, leadership, organisation and team-working.
Full training is provided: it’s you who we are interested in!
Looking for extra development? There are also Lead Mentor roles available once you have applied to the scheme.
Eligibility criteria and how to apply
This role is available to current undergraduate students who are entering their second or final year, or progressing from undergraduate study to the first year of a postgraduate course, in September or October 2023.
Successful candidates must be able to attend compulsory training sessions prior to beginning the role in September 2023. They must be available to work during Welcome 2023 and may also be asked to be available for work during enrolment.
