NTU Athlete and Sport Scholar, Jay Ecclesfield, has been selected for England Students’ upcoming test match against France.

NTU Sport and Nottingham Rugby are delighted for Jay with his selection for the England Students' squad in their upcoming test match against France.

Jay has represented both the University in BUCS and Nottingham Rugby in The Championship, where he has been a standout performer this season, accumulating ten appearances in England’s second professional league.  His selection is testament to his hard work and dedication since joining NTU and Nottingham Rugby from Leicester Tigers Academy and Brooksby Melton College.

He has played second row, blindside flanker and number eight position which shows his versatility and wide-ranging skill set. This has been rewarded not only with his England Students’ selection but also with a new contract at Nottingham Rugby. Jay is also set to become a post-graduate student at NTU next season, taking on a Master’s degree, whilst continuing to be an NTU Sport Scholar.

The performance partnership between NTU and Nottingham Rugby is renowned for producing the next wave of professional players from University to Championship and beyond. We would encourage any aspiring players who wish to have a high performing future in the game to get in touch with David Ross, NTU’s Head of Rugby: David.ross@ntu.ac.uk
