Cyber Security Awareness Month is here!

As a student, it's crucial to stay safe online, especially with so much of your work and personal life happening digitally. From password best practices to protecting your social media accounts, these simple steps can make all the difference:
‍Beware of phishing
Always double-check emails or texts asking for personal information.
Secure your passwords
Use strong, unique passwords across your accounts and change them regularly. Your NTU password should not be reused anywhere else! Learn how to update your NTU password in our student password reset guide and follow our user guide on how to create a strong password.
Protect your social media
Set your social media accounts to private and be cautious about who you're sharing personal information with.
Enable Multi-Factor Authentication
Enable multi-factor authentication (MFA) on all your online accounts.

Stay safe when browsing
Avoid visiting suspicious websites. Look for “https” in the URL to ensure the data you send is secure.
Keep devices updated
Regularly update your phone, laptop, and apps to protect against security vulnerabilities.
Avoid public Wi-Fi risks
Avoid doing sensitive tasks (like online banking) on public Wi-Fi unless you're using a VPN.
Manage app permissions
Review app permissions on your phone. Don't grant access to your contacts, location, or files unless absolutely necessary.
Think before you click
If an offer seems too good to be true (like “free” software or discounts), it could be a scam.
Before clicking on links, hover over them to check where they lead. Scammers often use links that look similar to real ones.
Keep devices secure
Don’t leave your devices unattended in public spaces like libraries or cafes - always take them with you.
