Student finance for studying abroad
Find out about how to fund studying abroad.
You're entitled to funding if you're studying abroad as part of your course. It will come from your national student finance service. You'll pay a reduced tuition fee for your year of studying abroad. If you usually use student finance to pay for your course fees, you can receive a tuition fee loan to cover this.
- If you're studying abroad in the 2022/23 academic year, the tuition fee will be £1,385.
If you apply for your funding through Student Finance England, you may be eligible for:
- a higher maintenance loan to help cover some of the extra living costs that you could incur
- a travel grant to help pay towards travel costs, visas, and travel insurance.
Please be aware that you'll always have to pay some of your travel costs yourself. The amount will depend on your household income.
If you're from Northern Ireland, Scotland, or Wales, your funding package may be different. Please check your national student finance service’s website for more information.
