Welcome to the School of Architecture, Design and the Built Environment

Andrew Knight

We’re a centre of expertise for aspiring and professional designers, architects, civil engineers, surveyors and property and construction experts. Based at the University’s City Campus in the heart of Nottingham, we’re home to over 3,000 students and a large and diverse team of academic, technical and professional staff, organised into five departments.

We have an outstanding reputation for providing challenging, applied education that is highly engaged with professional practice. Our courses at undergraduate, postgraduate taught, doctoral, degree apprenticeship and professional levels are designed with industry partners and informed by our globally significant research, ensuring that current trends are at the forefront of our students' learning and development.

Our School delivers world-class research which changes people’s lives. We develop revolutionary medical products to improve people’s health. We create sustainable technologies to support developing nations, helping people make water from air and cook food in ovens powered only by the sun. We advise Government on how to fight the throwaway cultures. And we highlight how mortgage markets favour the wealthy, making borrowing more expensive for the poorest households.

We're home to inspiring and creative spaces, designed to enable our students, academic and technical teams, researchers and corporate clients to work, learn and develop ideas that have a real societal and environmental impact.

There are many opportunities to engage with and collaborate with the School. If you’re interested in visiting, studying, or working with us, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
