It's aimed at the computer-literate beginner or those with a basic knowledge of 3D Studio Max who needs to develop to the next level.

What you'll study

On this course you will:

  • be introduced to a studio scene (mental ray rendering), 3D modelling (including the lathe, extrude, sweep and loft commands) and mesh editing
  • use parametric deformers and compound modelling (bend, twist, spherify, boolean and pro-boolean)
  • create simple animations (keyframing, animation paths and effects)
  • investigate lighting (standard lights, photmetric lights, IES lights and the daylight system)
  • apply materials and UVW mapping
  • learn about architectural floor-plan building and rendering (extrusions, doors and windows) and merging assets from other scenes
  • be introduced to HDRI lighting and photo backplate (mental ray)
  • explore outputting, stills and animation resolutions, file types, compressions and video post/adobe afterEffects/XN view.
