This 100% online course will explore contemporary approaches to car design.

It will teach you the fundamentals of design and style and how they link to the function of a vehicle.

The course will include:

  • online sessions with your tutor and fellow students for lectures, project work and group discussions (2, 3 or 4 hours per day)
  • independent study time and one-to-one tutorials (1, 2 or 3 hours per day)
  • and a break for lunch (1 hour) and quick breaks for refreshments.

This course will begin by exploring car design history and branding and will look at the future of the industry.

You will then go on to develop practical design skills (all by hand), from free-sketching to perspective-sketching.

You will work on both individual projects and team projects.

You’ll be introduced to techniques through group demonstrations, case studies, group feedback and 1-2-1 tutorials.

What will I gain?

By the end of the course you’ll understand the different stages of car design, and you’ll have developed a range of professional drawing and presentation skills and enhanced your portfolio.

Tutor Profile: Boris Fabris is an automotive and transportation designer and consultant based in Turin, Italy.

His design work has taken him to the USA, China and across Europe, and his teaching at many international universities, design institutes and schools.

What you'll study
