This course focuses on the process of image-making in the game design industry.

It's hands-on, taught in a series of practical workshops and group sessions.

This course is ideal if you are considering a future in game design, animation or creative media.

Tutor: Adam Horsepool is a freelance illustrator and animator with several years’ experience in the design industry.

He studied animation at Lincoln University, specialising in visual development and character design.

Adam first started as a professional animator producing work for marketing campaigns, e-learning courses and character design for large companies; this is where his interest in illustration began.

He has illustrated a number of children's books for various studios such as Warner Brothers, Igloo Books and Kevin the Carrot for Aldi.

Adam is currently working as a lecturer in the animation department at NTU, teaching storyboarding and visual development.

Need accommodation?

However, you can book accommodation on campus as long as you are accompanied by a parent/guardian.

These are single rooms with a private bathroom.

What you'll study

During this course you will:

  • investigate the role of concept artist in the game production process
  • develop your 2D and 3D visualisation skills
  • use a combination of hand drawing and digital techniques
  • develop characters and environments in response to a project brief.
