Domestic Machine Knitting

fkss-2017
  • Level(s) of study: Short course
  • Study mode(s): Full-time
  • Location: City Campus
  • Starting: 30 July 2018
  • Course duration: One week

This course offers intensive instruction on domestic knitting machines.

It'll introduce you to thinking creatively about using a machine at home or at work and how to exploit the equipment to produce new, innovative samples for fashion or interiors.

The course will be taught using Silver Reed knitting machines, and no previous experience is required.

It will focus on producing work with a contemporary design perspective.

You'll learn how designers are using trend forecasting resources to develop new concepts, which will help inform your project during the course.

The course is ideal for anyone who's interested in textiles and crafts and considering investing in (or making better use of) a domestic machine.

It's also very useful for fashion and textile technicians and tutors who are looking to enhance their skills, students or recent graduates who want to explore knit in more depth, and anyone considering applying for a knitwear or a textile-related degree course in the future.

What will you gain?

By the end of the course, you'll have created new machine-knitting ideas and produced a range of professional-looking samples or swatches for fashion and home projects.

“The tutor took great care to help with our individual requirements both during the course and before – very helpful indeed.” LH
