pattern-drafting-for-beginners
  • Level(s) of study: Short course
  • Study mode(s): Short course
  • Location: City Campus
  • Starting: 16 December 2019
  • Course duration: Monday to Wednesday 10 am - 4 pm, three days

This course will provide you with practical skills in both drafting and toiling, and will use your previously developed body block to create new shapes and silhouettes.

It’s suitable for people who are interested in developing their skills in womenswear, and is ideal if you have completed the ‘Pattern Drafting and Cutting for Beginners’ course or have a sewing background and have used commercial or shop-bought patterns.

This course is all about how to take measurements correctly and draft pattern pieces from a block.

You will learn about fabric lay planning, fabric marking and cutting, and toile assembly and fitting.

You’ll be introduced to these techniques through group demonstrations, fittings, paired activities and technical and practical workshop activities.

You must have prior knowledge of the drafting process, and have a basic close-fit body block to bring with you.

What will I gain?

By the end of the course, you will have consolidated the skills acquired from the previous beginner’s course or enhanced your existing knowledge.
