In this week you will develop your technical photography skills and complement them with an understanding of contemporary fashion photography and its context within modern society.

You will improve your understanding of digital photography and the manual settings of your camera, experience working in the studio with professional lighting equipment while direct a model and styling a contemporary look. You will source sets, props and backdrops to create unique, beautiful and inspiring fashion images that demonstrate your personal approach.

At the end of this week you will be able to communicate an awareness of social and cultural issues in relation to fashion photography, evaluate your own work and that of others and demonstrate knowledge and understanding of historical and contemporary fashion photography through your practice. You will be able to create fashion photographs that explore ideas through methods and practices of photographic image making and demonstrate the appropriate selection, control and understanding of technical and practical skills in fashion photographic production.

Week 2 – Photography and Architecture

Being able to capture a unique image is a real skill and which sets professional photographers aside from others.  This practical course will appeal to anyone interested in the urban environment and how the aesthetic qualities of buildings can be captured in a photograph.

During this week you will improve your understanding of digital photography and the manual settings of your camera while working in a variety of urban locations, capturing the external and internal qualities of historic and contemporary buildings. You will experiment with abstract shapes, colours and textures to create inspiring architectural images that have aesthetic and potential commercial quality.

At the end of this week you will be able to communicate an awareness of social, cultural and aesthetic issues related to the depiction of architecture in photography, demonstrate knowledge and understanding of historical and contemporary architectural photography through your practice, and demonstrate the appropriate selection, control and understanding of technical and practical skills in architectural photographic production.
