What is flash (or very short) fiction, and how do you write it?

Find out in this interactive one-day workshop which will introduce you to this burgeoning and playful literary form which pushes at the border between fiction and poetry.

What will I gain?

You’ll leave the session with several completed pieces of flash fiction and a toolbox of approaches for stimulating new pieces in the future.

You’ll also have a better understanding of your own tastes and strengths as a writer which will benefit you in any future writing endeavours.

What you'll study

On this course you will:

  • write your own flash fiction by undertaking a range of guided creative exercises
  • read and analyse examples of flash fiction which demonstrate different approaches
  • edit and hone your writing through guided editing exercises
  • read and share your work with the group (if you wish)
  • gain a better understanding of your strengths and interests as a writer.
