  • Level(s) of study: Short course
  • Study mode(s): Part-time (day)
  • Location: City Campus
  • Starting: 26 September 2019
  • Course duration: Thursday and Friday, 9:30 am - 4 pm

This course is a boot camp for professionals who need to improve their writing.

It’ll be an ideal opportunity if you’re regularly writing reports, presentations and project briefs, and need to win over your audience with the right words.

The aim of the course is to enable both the beginner and those with more business experience to enjoy writing - instead of fearing it.

You’ll look at examples of great writing from history and today, and analyse why this writing works.

What will you gain?

By the end of the course you’ll have a project completed (or in development) and the skills and knowledge to continue writing effectively in the future.

You’ll also have met fellow professionals who no longer fear writing, but relish it.

"This was a thoroughly enjoyable experience. The tutor, Becky, was good fun and at the same time focused on getting through a wide range of practical and interesting exercises. She was also extremely skilled at giving practical feedback to a wide range people from all sorts of backgrounds and organisations. I personally came away with some great ideas on how to improve the communication around business.  Thank you NTU." AS

“After two days on this course my writing has developed from average to amazing! I feel much more confident creating ads and social media posts, and find it an enjoyable experience (rather than something I struggled with). The tutor Becky is a star - she has the energy and enthusiasm to get everyone involved. I’m over the moon!” KP

Tutor profile: Dr Becky Cullen is a poet and researcher at Nottingham Trent University. She also delivers leadership training courses for managers.

She’s particularly skilled in giving feedback; her delegates achieve a great deal in a short time, surprising themselves with the level and range of their writing.

Becky was Poet-in-Residence at Newstead Abbey, and her work has been published in journals including the prestigious PN Review.

Becky also hosts the Totally Wired early evening poetry series in Nottingham, is a singer and has a contagious laugh!

Indicative maximum class size: 14
