This short course aims to provide a deeper insight into the application of CAD.
The course is an ideal opportunity to implement and enhance the skills obtained from the CAD for Interior Design – Level One course.
During the three days, the various activities aim to provide you with a deeper understanding of professional skills required to successfully communicate your ideas.
The step-by-step processes will help enhance your awareness and knowledge of the different software techniques.
Tutor profile: After graduating from NTU, Michelle Haslam spent the next eight years as an interior designer at a CPMG Architects in Nottingham.
Currently Michelle shares her time between running her own interior design business, Harrington and Haslam, and teaching at NTU on the BA Interior Architecture and Design course.

What you'll study
The course is structured as follows:
Day one: AutoCAD (2D drawings)
- Welcome and course overview
- Introduction to understanding a professional drawing package and conventions
- Basic skills refresh
- Introduction to how to create a professional drawing package in AutoCAD.
Day two: SketchUp (3D modelling)
- Basic skills refresh
- Understand how to build detail into your model
- How to render in SketchUp, including natural daylight.
Day three: Photoshop (2D rendering)
- Basic skills refresh
- Understand how to add layers of detail, including people, textures and artificial lighting
- Share your completed drawings and ideas with the group.
